The Happy Hypocrite Musical is a show based on Max Beerbohm book of same name, written in 1897 and richly illustrated by George Sheringham, which I draw inspiration from.
The book is a comedy of redemption and tells the story of Lord George Hell, a worldly man fond of gambling and drinking, whose love brings dramatic changes to his personality.
Writer David Benedictus created the musical and commissioned me to create the artwork.
The starting point was to depic the protagonist’s wicked face, for which I used a photo of the actor and added elements of the Georgian Era: a top hat and tapestry as background.
The artwork has been used as poster, invitations, programme as well as on social media platforms. Furthermore, on this project I also directed and edited a short film, please click here to watch.
